    Hey man,
Do you find it hard to sing the Bridge to Glorious while playing those rhythms they play on the album. It’s TOUGH - the melody rhythm falls totally “off” the rhythmic hits in the Bridge … after 3 weeks, I’m finally getting to where I can play the correct rhythmic hits AND sing the Bridge at the same time!

    For the Kingdom,
    Fred McKinnon

Fred, We actually re-arranged the song to make it more singable and accessible to all of our musicians. So we don’t go as crazy as they do towards the end of the recording rhythmically, or with all the key changes.

We do the whole “I was created to make…” vamp in the home key and start it soft and sweet and add and build to the end until we hit a huge break on the downbeat and sing it a cappella one last time at full force, then the drummer brings us back in for the last stinger.

    Works cool.

Yeah, actually that does sound very cool to me. And, as you say, much more accessible.

how does it work always doing upbeat, fast songs? do you have a service that you get to relax and enjoy ya’ some intimate times with God?

i keep seeing Glorious on everyone’s set-list, i’m going to have to go listen to it. typically martha get’s on my nerves a little.

@Jon, Our service is very guest friendly (from the standpoint of the environment created with media/music). We don’t have a typical “worship” time like most churches do.

We do a periodic night of worship that goes for about 2 hours where we enjoy more intimate times of worship, communion, and maybe some brief teaching on worship expressions. We’ve found that these times are SO special because they’re not the norm.

We’re working towards having these once a month. We also do a leadership communion (which is open to all volunteers) where we do worship as well.

Our small groups are encouraged to incorporate a time of worship and prayer weekly, but generally that is left up to the group itself.

Glorious is ok. It’s really a soulful song. I enjoy it and we rock it out, but you really have to have someone who can sing it with some soul for it to be worth the attempt.

Fortunately, we’ve got a lot of soul on our team :)
