Russell’s Retro Rigamarole

Hey check it out. Those of you who have been following the saga of the Upright Washtub Bass…here it is in action. We played a “cover” show at Buffington’s in Remerton, Ga. this past Saturday night. Just a few friends playing under the moniker, “Russell’s Retro Rigamarole.”

The show was called “Under the Covers” - no originals. We decided to go way back so that we wouldn’t cover any of the same songs the other bands did. It worked. We were a hit and were definitely sing-a-long-able!

Good crowd, good songs, good fun.

I’m the one in the middle. On my right on guitar is Keith Hand, on my left on snare is Hamp Rogers, and behind us laying down the bottom is Jimmy Linville.

This first clip is a reworked version of an old song called “The Way You Look Tonight.”

The second clip is our finale, “Believer” it went over well.

With an SM57, the bass came through loud and clear. I apologize for some of the “silly” sounding singing on camera, there were a few people standing right next to the camera who had no idea their voices would come through so loud and clear.

Otherwise, it was a fun night. Next time, I’ll stream it live.
